Tramway Cleanup
ECNA Roadside Cleanup
Every fall and spring volunteers from ECNA cleanup Tramway between Lomas and Rover.
Highway Cleanup Time is Here! Help your community and meet your neighbors. If you live in any neighborhood that borders either side of Tramway, drive this stretch regularly or use this section of trail, ECNA invites you to join us for this civic enhancement event.
DATE: NEXT DATE TBD – SOMETIME IN THE SPRING 2021
TIME: 9am – 12 noon. You do not need to commit to the entire time. Your reply can let us know the time you are able to volunteer. We will have a “runner” to support the process, so anytime is welcome.
MEETING LOCATION: CVS Parking lot at Indian School Rd and Tramway–east of the building. From there we can divide up to clean up Tramway–the first impression and entry to our neighborhoods.
NMDOT DOES HAVE SOME RULES: Safety first. DOT provides vests for us to wear. Vests will be distributed at the CVS parking lot meeting location. No one 12 years or younger can participate. Older than 12 to 18 years will work with an adult under direct supervision.
SUPPLIES PROVIDED: In addition to the vests–trash bags provided by DOT. Some 5 gallon buckets (easier to put trash in than the trash bags) some pick up/grabber tools, some water, light weight gloves.
SUPPLIES YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BRINGING: Garden or work gloves, pick up/grabber stick or stick with a spike to pick up items (avoiding bending to pick up items), water, sun screen, hat, long pants and long sleeves and good shoes. Bring a 5 gallon bucket if you have one.
GENERAL GUIDANCE: We will pick up the visible stuff, not every little item. As bags fill, place them just off the black top shoulder of the road. (DOT will pick up the bags.) It you are at the morning assemble site, you will receive the cell number of the ” ECNA runner” who you can call for transport for a bathroom emergency, water, additional supplies and a ride to the start point to get your car.
